3 Car Safety & Kids Tips - One-Minute Parent

by |

Moms and dads are ALWAYS on the go with kids ... Just take a few moments to review that you're doing all you can to keep your precious cargo safe!

Yes, you’re incredibly busy and trying to keep up with everything that life as a busy mom brings … and you spend a lot of time in the car. The unexpected can always happen, so just take the time to do these three simple things and you’ll  keep your kids safer on the road:

1) BUCKLE UP.
It’s simple enough to do, but plenty of people still don’t. Set a good example for your kids and refuse to pull out onto the road until everyone’s secure — and that includes all kids in car seats, too. The National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) says about 75 percent of car seats are improperly installed. Learn how to install a car seat properly —  head to www.safekids.org.

2) DON’T TEXT AND DRIVE.
It’s risky business to constantly be using your cell phone on the road, even to quickly check it at traffic lights. If you don’t want your kids to do it when they become drivers, then you have to learn how to stop texting and driving. Here’s how: When you get behind the wheel, put your cell phone away until you reach your next destination safely.

3) DON’T LEAVE KIDS ALONE IN THE CAR.
Twenty-four children have died in 2013 alone from being left alone in a hot car, or from wandering into a hot car without a parent’s knowledge, reports the advocacy group kidsandcars.org. Make sure you know where your kids are at all times and that they are your #1 priority in the middle of everything else you do!
