Here’s a great way for your energetic child to burn off some energy this summer! The 7th Annual Half-Pint Triathlon for kids ages 8 – 12 takes place Saturday, June 2 from 7 – 9 a.m. at the Franklin Recreational Complex. Preregister your child for $20, then start practicing for the events in the triathlon. Your child can be registered as a Junior (ages 8 – 9) or as a Senior (ages 10 – 12). Event races are tailored to the different age groups. Packet pick up for registered kids is Friday, June 1 from 3 – 6 p.m. at Franklin Rec.
What to Expect
The triathlon race check-in begins at 6 a.m. on race day. Kids must be accompanied by a parent and a parent/athlete meeting takes place at 7 a.m. Then it’s off to the races! The action starts at the Franklin Rec’s pool. In two different groups, kids will swim, bike and run. Juniors will swim 50 meters, bike 1-and-a-half miles and run half a mile. Seniors will swim 100 meters, bike three miles and run one. Be sure your child has a bike helmet, hair ties for long hair, and good running shoes.
All participating kids will receive an official triathlon t-shirt and medal.
