idyllwild offers new spring break camp
Spring break will be here before you know it, and if your searching for something for your child to do, you may consider Camp Idyllwild’s new spring break camp. Kids ages 5 - 11 can have fun with arts and crafts, nature hikes, spring identification in the garden, outdoor play, clay work and more. Two sessions are available: March 15 - 19 and April 5 - 9, coinciding with Davidson and Williamson Counties’ schedules, respectively. Campers will be picked up at 8 a.m. and dropped off at 5 p.m. at a location that will be given to registered families. Snacks will be provided, but campers should bring lunch and a change of clothes. Call 383-0589 or visit www.campidyllwild.com for more information or to register.
find a consignment sale ... at your fingertips!
Consignment season is upon us, and with a little help from a local Franklin mom, the sales are easier to find. “I had been a consignment sale lover for many years and wanted an easier way to find all of the wonderful area sales,” says Julie King, creator of the new consignment sales Web site, Consigning Time. “I thought that a calendar would be the best way to ensure that I did not miss one, so I created an online calendar and then decided to create a Web site so other people would benefit from it as well,” she adds. Users will find a printable calendar with names of the sales that directly link to their Web sites, giving users all the information they need. Whether you are looking to buy or sell, this month begins the spring season for consignment sales. King also provides tips and tricks for consignors such as how to tag items, prepping items, useful ways to help organize items throughout the year and more. new company brings gaming parties to you
Your child’s next birthday party can be one he and his friends will never forget if you take advantage of the services of a new, Franklin-based traveling entertainment company. Games on the Spot (GOTS) specializes in gaming, and it brings the fun to you by means of a 30-foot climate controlled limo-style trailer that accommodates up to 20 players inside. The trailer features five 47-inch high-definition screens, custom lighting, stereo surround sound and “rumble” seats that allow players to feel the motion.
A wide variety of games are available on Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii. A game coach is present to ensure everyone gets to play (only 20 can play at one time) and also provides secrets and shortcuts if needed. GOTS uses ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) ratings to make sure the games are appropriate for the age group on board. “All ‘mature’ rated games, such as Halo 3 or Call of Duty, require written parental or party host (renter) approval before the games can be loaded into the consoles for play,” says Kevin Culp, co-owner of GOTS.
Prices range from $199 - $299, depending on the day of the week and location, and includes two hours of game play, 20 custom guest invitations and the game coach. Kids can invite as many guests at they want to their party, but only 20 will be able to play at one time. Players 6 and younger must be accompanied by at least one adult while inside the trailer. To learn more or to book a party, call 888-405-4687 or visit www.gamesonthespot.com.
