Best of Spring 2015: Family Fun Runs

Participate in one of these family fun runs in April to help great causes in the Nashville area.

Head outside, stretch your legs, breathe the fresh air, get some exercise and help a worthy cause at the same time! Here are a few family fun runs this month:

Best Buddies Friendship Walk
Sunday, April 12
Bicentennial Mall State Park Nashville
Benefits Best Buddies, a local organization that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Registration: Free; walkers have a $50 minimum fundraising goal.

Color Bash 5K
Saturday, April 18
Memorial Park, Hendersonville
Benefits the Hendersonville Home Bound Meals program. Registration: $40 in advance, $50 day of.

Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon + 5K
Saturday, April 25
Starts at Centennial Park, ends at LP Field
Registration is full to be a race participant in this race benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, but your family can head out to cheer on the runners along the race route or sign up to volunteer.

Saturday, April 18
Edwin Warner Park, Nashville
Benefits the children at Raise the Roof Academy; strollers and dogs welcome. Registration: $25

Kids Rock Nashville
Sunday, April 26
LP Field, Nashville
Presented by the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, kids in grades 1 – 7 run one mile; kindergartners do a one-half mile dash. Registration: $30.

March for Babies
Saturday, April 18
LP Field, Nashville
Benefits the Middle Tennessee chapter of March of Dimes. Registration: Free; walkers garner pledges.

Movers for Moms 5K
Saturday, April 18
Percy Warner Park, Nashville
Benefits the YWCA’s domestic violence services. Registration: $15.

Purity’s Moosic City Dairy Dash
Saturday, April 11
Metro Center, Nashville
Choose a 5K, 10K or one-mile family fun run benefiting Our Kids, a local organization serving child sex abuse victims. Registration: $12 fun run, $30 5K, $35 10K.

Shade Tree Trot 5K
Saturday, April 18
Vanderbilt University Football Stadium, Nashville
Benefits the Shade Tree Clinic, a medical student-run free clinic in East Nashville. Registration: $30 in advance, $35 day of.

Walk in Their Shoes 5K
Saturday, April 18
Sexual Assault Center, Nashville
Benefits the Sexual Assault Center. Registration: $15 adults, free ages 10 and younger.

Walk MS
Sunday, April 19
LP Field, Nashville
Choose a one- or three-mile walk to benefit the local chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Registration: Free; walkers raise donations.
