Do you have a young singer at your home? Perhaps it’s time to take his musical ability to the next level:
Next week brings two opportunities for kids to hear — and possibly join — the renowned Blair Children’s Chorus (BCC). The Chorus holds its annual concert on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. in Ingram Hall, located on the Vanderbilt campus on Children’s Way. The concert is free, and all of the different ensembles that make up BCC (see choirs listed below) will perform.
Do you want your child to be IN one of the ensembles? Bring him or her to auditions on Monday, Dec. 11 or Tuesday, Dec. 12 at Blair School of Music, Room 1109c from 5 – 7 p.m. (both days). Kids should be ready to sing a song like “Happy Birthday” or “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.” They’ll be asked to sight read a selection of music, and upon acceptance, be placed in appropriate choirs according to their ages.
To participate in BCC (15 weeks of instruction), the tuition is $356; participation in Chorale is an additional $50 per semester. See the Blair Children’s Chorus HANDBOOK.
About Blair Children’s Chorus
BCC was established as a precollege division of the Blair School of Music in 1988. Performance opportunities are plentiful. BCC has sung numerous times with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, and in recent years, has toured nationally and internationally in England, Germany, Ireland and Costa Rica. The program is classically based with a strong emphasis on healthy vocal production, music reading and performance. The choirs are under the direction of Artistic Director Mary Biddlecombe.
