Stones River National Battlefield has cannons everywhere and you can learn how soldiers fired them during battle this weekend!
Aim … FIRE! Did you know that most of the nearly 4 million soldiers who fought the Civil War had no military experience before they joined their army? Get in on the loud action at Stones River National Battlefield this weekend. Camp of Instruction – Artillery is a free event that takes place Saturday, April 22. Visitors young and old can pick a time to stop by and enjoy the Load, Ready, Fire! – Hands-On Artillery Drill program. You’ll first watch park staff and volunteers train to fire cannons before you get to spend some time learning the drill for yourself.
When Can You Help Fire Cannons?
Pick from one of three different times for this free program: 11 – 11:30 a.m., 1 – 1:30 p.m. and 3 – 3:30 p.m. They each take place at the Visitor Center and the programs for each time are identical.[related-posts]
