About Belmont School of Music

The Belmont University School of Music offers a variety of summer camps for elementary and high school students.

There are two new day camps for elementary aged students.

The Music Therapy Camp, offered June 4-8, is for students with special needs, ages 7-12 and will feature music, movement, dancing, songwriting, singing and arts and crafts.

The Belmont Academy Preparatory Piano Camp, offered June 11-15 for ages 6-12, includes classes in music theory, music history, performance and group instruction. Camp concludes with a student recital. Belmont Academy also offers individual instruction for in piano, strings, guitar, banjo, mandolin, voice and selected wind, brass and percussion for pre-college students and adults year-round.

Camps for high school students (grades 9-12) specialize in band, piano, string and vocal training. Each camp features guest and faculty concerts as well as a finale concert by the students. Students will be housed in Belmont University dormitories and all meals will be served in Johnson Center Dining Hall. Recreational activities and evening social events provide ample balance during the week.  Students are under careful supervision by camp counselors during all activities and in the dorm.

Summer Winds Band Camp, offered June 10-16, is for woodwind, brass and percussion students. Ensemble opportunities include wind ensemble, jazz ensemble and chamber music.

Pianists have the opportunity to study classical or jazz piano as well as attend classes in music theory, sight-reading, technique and improvisation at the Belmont Piano Camp, June 10-15.

String Crossings Camp, June 17-22, is for violin, viola, cello, and double bass students. Classes are offered in classical, bluegrass, jazz and rock styles. Student ensembles have a recording session at Ocean Way Studio.

Vocalists can study classical, jazz, musical theatre and contemporary styles at the Summer Vocal Arts Intensive June 24-30. Elective classes are offered in conducting, chart writing, artist development and movement.
