Want a good … no GREAT … burger? Enjoy one of the most flippin’ fantastic burgers ever to hit the streets at FLIP Burger Boutique in Atlanta, Georgia.
During my most recent visit there, a few friends of mine decided to take us out to lunch and surprised us with this. You walk in and think that … oh, goodness, I’m under-dressed. But, don’t you worry. This restaurant proves that you can provide your hungry customers with more than just tasty food — this wonderful setting makes for a much nicer experience (see interior shots in the gallery below). Kids love the burgers, too. I saw a little 6-year-old diving in to her burger and smiling the entire time!
The menu is astounding, too. We started out with the Fry Side Sampler (picture in gallery below). It comes with house-made french fries, vodka battered onion rings and sweet potato tots — and we just had to add a side of the fried bread+butter pickles! Each has a specific dipping sauce to go with it, but, of course, it’s fun to try each side in all the sauces. FLIP has the most delicious smoked mayo dipping sauce I’ve ever tasted! Careful, you’ll love these so much that you just might eat them all. So, be sure to leave room for your burger!
On to the main reason you came here … lunch! Once again, the menu options were unheard of! Some of the local favorites are the turkey burger, lamburger and the chorizo. I couldn’t decide, so I opted for the smaller. The smaller is a combination of three different smaller-portioned burgers — rBQ, butcher’s cut and the farmer (each pictured in the gallery below). The rBQ is a beef burger topped with pulled brisket, house-made coleslaw, rbq sauce and smoked mayo. OMG! It was divine! The butcher’s cut is a beef burger topped with crumbled bleu cheese, caramelized onions, soy truffle vinaigrette, frisee, pickled shallots and red wine jam. The farmer is a white oaks grass fed beef burger topped with three-year aged chedder, baby kale, apple house chutney and smoked mayo. They were each so different in taste yet made a complete, yummy experience.
Others at the table enjoyed the lamburger and chorizo (both pictured in the gallery below, too). But, another wonderful surprise was the dessert. We ordered a Krispy Kreme, which had a donut ground up and mixed right in, a Nutella, which was a yummy Nutella blended milkshake topped with burnt (done so on purpose) marshmallows, and a Captain Crunch, which had, you guessed it, Captain Crunch cereal ground up and mixed right in and topped with whipped cream and more Captain Crunch!
Now, who came up with this enticing concept? None other than Chef Richard Blais.
Blais is someone you’ve probably heard of. Yeah, he’s that wonderful chef that’s won BRAVO’S season 8 Top Chef All-Stars and has appeared on several other shows including Food Network’s Iron Chef America. So, it was no wonder that the food was so unbelievably good!
There are just three locations to this wonderful restaurant, but the one we went to is at the address below. The burgers range in price from $7 – $19, milkshakes (12 ounces) are $4.50 – 8 and the fry side sampler was $9, plus $3.50 for a side of the fried pickles.
All I know is … I am coming back the next time we take a trip to Atlanta. It’s not too far from downtown. But, get there early because the locals love it so much that the restaurant fills up fast. There are no reservations and it’s first come, first served!
