The Tennessee Department of Tourism helps families explore Tennessee Trails with a variety of free apps to guide you.
Fall is the perfect time to get out and about to explore the beauty that Tennessee offers, including many trails and byways to enjoy while taking in the autumnal colors of nature. The Tennessee Department of Tourism helps make your trip more fun and informative with its new Discover Tennessee Trails & Byways initiative, and your kids will dig it because it’s in app form.
You can download 16 free apps (available on the iOS platform; you’ll need the 7.0 or higher platform on your device) that highlight specific trails while pointing out major sites, off-the-beaten-path spots and beyond. You can view by category and create a custom trail itinerary … you can share your favorite points of interest on Facebook, too.
Among the trail app offerings is Nashville’s Trace, a cool road trip through Tennessee towns linked together by the beautiful Natchez Trace Parkway’s history and scenery. Other goodies include the Great River Road Trail (West Tennessee), Old Tennessee Trail (towns surrounding Franklin), Pie in the Sky Trail (Chattanooga), Ring of Fire Trail (Cumberland Plateau), Sunny Side Trail (Smoky Mountains and the Appalachian countryside) and more.
