Local kids can warm up their pipes and try out for a choir program.
Got kids who love to sing? Let ’em try out for the Heimermann Children’s Choir (HCC) in Nashville. Founded in 2014 by publishing executive Don Wise and music director/composer Charles Heimermann, HCC holds fall auditions this month for students 8 – 16.
ABOUT HEIMERMANN CHILDREN’S CHOIR
HCC provides musical training for the talent found in young voices. Instruction includes vocal technique, reading music and music theory in a positive class environment.
“We are unique because we prepare our students to be ready to perform alongside professional vocal and instrumental musicians of the highest caliber in Nashville’s finest venues, performance halls and recording studios,” says Heimermann.
The choir holds weekly rehearsals for 14 weeks each school semester. Rehearsals take place Sundays from 1 – 2:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 19 at Trevecca University in Nashville. There are also rehearsals Thursdays from 6:30 – 8 p.m. beginning Aug. 23 at Faith Lutheran Church in Thompson’s Station. Students can choose either place as their main location.
In additional to rehearsals, each semester includes various performance and recording session opportunities.
Auditions at Trevecca take place Saturday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. and Sunday, Aug. 12 at 1 p.m.
Auditions at Faith Lutheran Church are Thursday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 18 at 10 a.m.
Individual auditions are available if the above times do not fit perspective students’ schedules.
Tuition for the school year is $500, and it can be split into two equal payments at the beginning of each semester.
