Homemade Lip Balm

by |

We've seen lip balm made with Kool-Aid, but now the idea's out for using the edible pearl dust used to give cakes and fondant flowers a little sparkle.

Who would’ve thought that you only needed two ingredients to make your own lip balm? Well, we’ve all probably heard that we could mix in Kool-Aid with Vaseline to make it, but I didn’t even think to use the pearl dust that I use on fondant flowers for cakes. It’s an edible glitter dust that gives off a little sparkle.

What You Need
Vaseline, pearl dust, spoon, small bowl, mini containers

What You do
• Put as much Vaseline in the bowl as you need to fill your mini containers.
• Add the edible pearl dust a little at a time. The glittery pearl dust can be found at your craft store in the cake supplies area.
• Mix thoroughly together.
• Test it to see if it’s the color you like. You may need to add more to it.
• Once you’ve got the consistency you like, start adding some into the mini containers.

You can make this for favors or you can turn it into a mini activity for little girls to do at your child’s next birthday party.
