From a fan's point of view, the CMA Awards was spectacular! From Taylor Swift's Pinnacle Award to the wonderfully silly co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, the show is a must for country music lovers.
After you get past all the glitz and glamor of the night, sit down and enjoy THE show of the year, the CMA Awards 2013! I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the CMA Awards live and witness the magic happen right in front of my very own eyes. The set was amazingly organized to host different performance areas easily accessible to the stars for an effortless looking show. Props to all those in charge of THAT!
The highlights of the CMA Awards that I want to share with you are what I think are most important are:
• Taylor Swift was awarded the CMA Pinnacle Award, which “recognizes an artist who has achieved both national and international prominence through concert performances and record sales at levels unique in Country Music. The artist has also attained the highest degree of recognition within the broad expanse of music worldwide. The artist’s talent and presence will have a long-term positive impact on the appreciation of Country Music for generations to come,” says a CMA press release. But, for us, having Nashville’s own receive such an award makes us all proud. She recently cut the ribbon on a grand new feature in Nashville, The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Taylor Swift Education Center, a $4 million donation given last year by Swift, with the main focus to further music education in the Nashville community. We are especially thankful for such a wonderful thing and hope that many of our own readers get the chance to experience what the center has to offer.
• Lennon and Maisy — The Stella Sisters from ABC’s Nashville put on a special little performance of Taylor Swift’s “You Belong with Me” right in front of Swift … not on the stage. Those little girls are going to be even more amazing if they keep this up. Their innocent voices added a special heart-warming touch to the show. You could watch Swift’s face as they performed; she showered the youngest with kisses. This was a great thing for little ones to see either live or on TV.
• George Strait wins Entertainer of the Year! OK, so I didn’t see that coming. He was up against several big stars that heavily influence our young listeners, but this just goes to show that the true winner stands out most. I’ve heard so much of his music over the years growing up and I am truly excited for this wonderful artist. I thought he was going to cry. Being there and hearing it in his voice, the excitement, was just amazing.
There, of course, was lots more that went on that I could talk about, but you can just visit the CMA Awards website to check it all out. There, you can also find all the nominees and winners, too.
Oh, and I’ve gotta give a shout out to THE show … ABC’s Nashville. I loved the Charles Esten and Connie Britton tie in. She’s so lovely and sweet. It was great to see them again on the CMA Awards.
