There is absolutely no better way to kick off the holidays than a trip to Nashville’s beloved Grand Ole Opry House to experience the magnificent Rockettes in their annual Radio City Christmas Spectacular show, part of Gaylord Opryland’s 28th Annual “A Country Christmas” celebration.

This year marks the Rockettes’ 10th anniversary in Nashville, and with that in mind, audiences get to enjoy an entirely different show, complete with dazzling new scenes and costumes.

Santa leads the way through the festive Christmas journey, sparking the exciting, child-like spirit the season heralds. The opening sequence finds the Rockettes dressed in reindeer attire, pulling Santa’s sleigh, setting the stage for a spectacular night of awe and wonder.

Amidst all the new elements this year, I was happy to see four time-tested, beloved elements still in the show, including the amazing Parade of Wooden Soldiers, the fun Rag Doll scene, the Nutcracker nod and the magical trip to New York City.

The live nativity remains the final scene of the production, and this season features beautifully fresh staging, complete with vibrant lighting effects. Kids will enjoy seeing live animals on stage (camels, sheep and a donkey) during this reverent moment celebrating the birth of the Christ child.

From start to finish, the high-kicking Rockettes, Santa, Mrs. Claus and the colorful cadre of ensemble singers and dancers deliver an absolutely seamless, flawless holiday production. One of the things I love most about it is the classic charm it possesses. Radio City Christmas Spectacular is indeed the perfect outing to get you and yours into the festive spirit of the holidays!
