BUDDY WALK: GOALS AND HIGHLIGHTS
The walk’s goal is to raise awareness and money for DSAMT. The local organization provides resources and up-to-date information on Down syndrome. It connects hundreds of families to support programs, education and advocacy as well as introducing them to other families.
The Buddy Walk is DSAMT’s signature fundraiser. Your family can register for free and start signing up pledges. Students can participate in a new way this year with the School Challenge. Schools can create teams, and the school raising the most money will get $1,000.
Other new highlights this year include live music by Blues Brokers; special guest David DeSanctis (self-advocate and actor from Where Hope Grows); and a photo booth.
Post-walk activities include carnival games, inflatables, arts and crafts, a musical petting zoo and other fun things for children. In addition, costumed characters are a big hit with little ones.
This year’s fundraising goal is $300,000. For more info or to register, call 615-386-9002 or visit somethingextra.org.
