Signups are opening up for spring sports. Is your child ready? Does he want to improve upon his skills? Check out one of these local organizations that offer private and semi-private training for kids to help hone in on their skills.

The Youth Performance Training program for ages 7 – 12 teaches the foundation of performance training as well as the principles of weight lifting and terminology. You can do either one-on-one training or even team training. Youth training emphasizes techniques and form, as well as understanding the muscle groups. Speed and agility training focuses on safely developing explosive power, core stability and injury prevention. They have also partnered with Patterson Park in Murfreesboro to help out the youth there as well.

Provides private and small group training year round to athletes of all ages. They teach hitting, pitching, catching and defense for both baseball and softball.

Breakaway Hockey & Fitness

Focuses on strengthening the muscle groups specifically for hockey players youth through collegiate with qualified instructors through progressive and developmental programming. Work out, have a strength and conditioning class, skate on their synthetic ice treadmill, shoot in the synthetic ice shooting lanes, take a group fitness class, or train as an entire team.

The Brand X Methon Training for ages 6 and older provides kids with exercise science and teaches them to move well and often using a fun combination of exercise and play. Kids are split into three different age categories: Kids (ages 6 – 11), JV Teens (ages 12 – 15) and Teens (ages 16 – 18).

The Rookie program (ages 7 – 11) help kids with character development and building work ethic while learning theory and terminology, establishing core strength and flexibility and more. The Developmental program (ages 12 – 14) adds to the Rookie program with low-level plyometrics training, improvement of range of motion, intermediate speed dynamics and strength enhancement. The Prep program (ages 15 – 18) adds even more with advanced linear acceleration speed dynamics, flexibility training and more.

This basketball skill development organization provides private training in basketball to help young athletes become better ball players. Programs include training in core strength, balance and stability, speed and agility, resistance, and cardiorespiratory.

Humble Fitness

Olympic lifting and bodybuilding champion, John Humble, offers private one-on-one private training for youth athletes ages 14 and younger in resistance training as well as training to teens ages 15 and older to gain more size and strength. The Humble Fitness Studio uses state-of-the-art equipment and more.

Lead Off Baseball Academy

Offers private baseball lessons where kids can get hitting and fielding instruction. Instructions offered are hitting, catcher and pitching and are available in 30-minute or one-hour lessons.

LPG Sports Academy

Offers one-on-one private lessons in baseball, softball, basketball and soccer from Jan. – March. The Lil Sluggers Baseball & Softball program for ages 2 – 8 develops your child’s throwing, fielding, hitting and base running skills. The KickStart Soccer program for ages 2 – 6 develops your child’s skills in dribbling, passing, shooting and trapping. The HoopStart Basketball program for ages 3 – 8 teaches kids dribbling and shooting while emphasizing motor skill development. The LPG Multisport program for ages 20 months – 6 years is a combination of the most popular activities of each of the other programs and introduces beginner athletes to the fundamentals of baseball, soccer and football. The FNL Flag Football program for ages 3 – 7 teaches kids the fundamentals of the non-contact sport. Programs are offered at their location as well as other locations/facilities in Middle Tennessee.

There are three sports training classes: Accelerate Class (ages 6 – 9), Elevate Class (ages 10 – 14) and Dominate Class (ages 15 and older). The training they offer includes speed and agility, strength training, sports nutrition, baseball throwing program and there’s also indoor batting cages. Sessions are offered in two-, three- or four-day options, too.

Showtime Sports Academy

Offers one-on-one 30-minute training lessons by professionals in baseball and softball to focus on catching, pitching, infield/outfield and bunting/hitting. They also have batting cages and a utility field for baseball, softball and lacrosse.

Strike Zone Academy

Individual softball and baseball lessons in hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and more are offered at their indoor facility. Group lessons also available. You can also rent their batting cages or sign your team up for a two-hour practice.
