Go, Speed Racer: Music City Indoor Karting & Entertainment Center

Summer in the City recommends MCIK for go-kart racing, blacklight mini-golf and more. Think 40 mph isn't fast? YOU try it! BY NOAH DAY for "Summer in the City

The “fastest fun in Nashville” lives up to its speedy moniker: Lightning fast go-karts, “Frank” the mechanical bull, black-light mini-golf and more. Don’t be put off by Music City Indoor Karting & Entertainment Center’s (MCIK) location; the huge warehouse is located in East Nashville across the street from the Nashville scrap yards. A warehouse is needed – how else can MCIK house all of that 77,000-square-feet of track for the go-karts?

The main event, of course, is the go-karting. A quarter-mile loop track consists of challenging turns and smooth straightaways. Drivers are challenged while tasting the raw speed capabilities of their karts. The go-karts — top of the line Sodi RTX electric ones — are fast.

Go-Karting Particulars

All riders must be at least 54” (4’6”). Adult racers get speed capabilities up to 40 mph, so they must have a driver’s license. Younger riders have their speed controlled so as not to exceed 23 mph.  Head socks and helmets are fitted prior to racing, and all your races are timed so you know what you’ve achieved at the end of your race. Racing rates are two eight-minute races for $43; $55 for three.

On top of lightning fast karting, MCIK has a “Toxic-Twister” inflatable obstacle course similar to a Ninja Warrior set up. There’s also “Frank,” the mechanical bull, who aims to knock you off your keister as fast as possible. Blacklight mini-golf is perfect for younger kids (consider bringing little ones for this while your older ones go-kart). The “Meltdown Inflatable” tests your awareness skills in multiple ways, and arcade games round out the fun. Vending machines are available for snacks.
The thrill of go-karting has been around for a long time; some race car driver big shots got their start in a go-kart. Not that you’re planning on being a race car driver, but if you’re looking for big, fast fun, give Music City Indoor Karting & Entertainment Center a spin.
