Children just are not brought up the way they used to be. I was raised by strict, very loving parents with a firm hand and I am not afraid to admit it. The way we raise our children has changed a little — not so strict, not so firm, etc. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of GREAT parents out there doing their job diligently. There are just those parents who simply cannot raise children. One way to tell is the behavior of that child.
Now, this child may not be a child right now — maybe even a working adult — but you can definitely tell the difference. Case in point:
Fireworks were the main ingredient for fun for the Fourth of July celebrations. They are fun, pretty and should be handled with care. NOT PUT IN MAILBOXES!
That’s right, our mailbox was victim to those beautiful bright lights last night. I am not saying it was some teen out on the streets, not raised any better to know the difference between having fun and committing a felony … it could have been a grown adult doing just the same. Bringing me back to what I was talking about. A properly raised child would know not to do this and would have respect for other people’s property. Mailboxes are federal property … so, you really didn’t hurt my stuff, just the US postal service’s. NOT VERY SMART!
I know there is probably not a thing to be done about this, but I just wanted to let those parents in on this apparently little secret: Fireworks + Mailbox = Federal Offense!
Come on people! Make your children understand the difference between having fun and causing trouble! Please. Not just for me, but for the sake of the future! Trust me, it would make all the difference.
