Don your best '70s attire and win prizes during this festive outing with a 40-year-old agency supporting local families.
The United Way of Sumner County (UWSC) works to support the community by building strong supporting blocks of health, education and financial stability with local families.
The organization launches its 2017 Campaign Kick-Off on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Hendersonville Public Library (140 Saundersville Road). United Way invites the community to attend the festivities with a retro theme.
Since the UWSC was created in 1977, the event encompasses a high-spirited ’70s flashback party. UWSC encourages you to don your best ’70s attire. Let your imagination run wild with themes from Star Wars to Smokey and the Bandit, from Saturday Night Fever to Charlie’s Angels, or perhaps the skating rink to disco!
During the event, UWSC will reveal details of its 2017 campaign to raise $1 million during its 40th year. In addition to the campaign info, you can enjoy a free lunch by T’s Hot Chicken Shack, meeting Bruce the Million Dollar Moose campaign mascot and winning contest prizes.
Contests include Best ’70s Attire, Best ’70s TV or Movie Character, Best ’70s Themed Group and Naming That ’70s Theme Song.
Although the Campaign Kick-Off is free, advance registration is necessary. You can RSVP online at unitedwaysumner.org, via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 615-461-8371. Deadline to register is Monday, Agu. 29 at 4:30 p.m.
