Where Every Family Matters

Piggy Ride at Jack’s BBQ

Your little piggies can enjoy a blast from the past with on a retro ride before pigging out on barbecue at one of Nashville's favorite eateries.

Here's something to make your kids squeal with delight the next time your family heads to Jack's Bar-B-Que on Charlotte. At noon today, the eatery unveiled a retro children's ride, the Flying Pig. The pig, aptly named Charlotte, is a nod to the iconic signage adorning all Jack's restaurants. "I'm thrilled to have this throwback ride for kids that comes to eat delicious barbecue with their families," says Jack Cawthon, owner of Jack's Bar-B-Que. "Everybody in town knows the flying pigs image, so I was glad to work with Ron to take that image in a new direction with this one-of-a-kind ride." Nashville-based visual and sculptural artist Ron Sweeney is responsible for refurbishing the 1950s-era ride. Classic rides of this nature were standard in front of restaurants and retailers of yesteryear.

RIDE FOR LOCAL CAUSES

The ride includes the original coin box that will take 50 cents to ride. Cawthon will donate the proceeds the ride collects and match them for his three favorite children's organizations: Benton Hall Academy, Gilda's Club of Nashville and Shriners Hospital for Children.
